The Missouri Public Service Commission (MoPSC) has given approval to Ameren Missouri to purchase a 150 MW solar project in White County, Illinois, USA. The completion of the acquisition is subject to closure conditions, but the facility is expected to start generating power in late 2024.
The newly acquired solar facility will serve as the primary source for the Renewable Solutions program, and both recently obtained approval from the MoPSC. The Renewable Solutions program has ten participating organizations from various Missouri locations that contribute to the cost of the facility. All of Ameren Missouri's customers will use the facility to meet their energy requirements. Participating businesses will obtain renewable energy credits for their contributions, allowing them to satisfy their renewable energy goals. Additional eligibility opportunities for customers will be considered in the future to expand the Renewable Solutions program.
Ameren Missouri has committed to a zero-emissions goal by 2050 and is continually taking steps to achieve it. The acquisition of the 150 MW solar facility is an important part of realizing that goal.
