African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), African Clean Energy Developments (ACED), and Reatile Renewables (Pty) Ltd. have achieved financial close on the 89 MW Castle Wind Farm project located near the town of De Aar in the Northern Cape province of South Africa. The wind farm will supply renewable energy to Sibanye-Stillwater's South African mining operations.
The project will provide decarbonization benefits, cost savings, and increased energy security for the mining and metals processing group. The inclusion of additional power generation capacity to the national grid will assist the country in offsetting its power deficit.
The project's levelised cost of energy will be lower than what Sibanye is presently paying, aligning with the company's decarbonization strategy and priority of securing a cost-effective and secure energy supply.
