Juwi AG has commenced construction of the 84 MW Wolf Wind project in South Africa's Eastern Cape region, following the completion of financial arrangements. The wind farm is being built for Red Rocket, which secured the project in the fifth round of tenders under the South African government's Renewable Energy Independent Power Producers Procurement Programme. The Wolf Wind project is expected to be connected to the South African grid by Q1 2024 and will generate over 360 GWh of electricity annually.
The Wolf Wind project is part of South Africa's commitment to reducing its dependence on fossil fuels and increasing its use of renewable energy. Under the REI4P, the government has solicited private companies to develop renewable energy projects that will help meet the country's growing energy demands while minimizing carbon emissions. The project has been designed to operate with minimal environmental impact and will provide economic benefits to the local communities by creating jobs and supporting infrastructure development.
Juwi AG and Red Rocket are working closely with local stakeholders to ensure that the project is completed safely and on schedule while maximizing its benefits for the region.
