97 MW Matarani plant begins operation in Peru

Yinson Renewables has announced the entry into its full operational phase of the 97 MW Matarani solar plant, located in the Mollendo desert, department of Arequipa, Peru.

Yinson Renewables purchased the Matarani project from Grenergy Renewables in January 2024 for US$91 million under a turnkey construction contract. The plant is expected to produce 260 GWh annually. Matarani operates under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Orygen, a leading renewable energy provider in Peru. Orygen’s majority shareholder is Actis, a global investment fund focused on sustainable infrastructure.
