Eurus Energy has announced that the 64 MW Kawanishi wind farm on Hokkaido Island, Japan generated its first power.
The wind farm is a part of the Dohoku Wind Power Generation Project, under which 107 turbines will be installed across six wind farms in the northern Hokkaido area. It is the third wind park in the scheme, alongside Hamasato and Kawaminami.
The onshore wind facility consists of 15 Siemens Gamesa turbines with an output of 4.3MW, enough to generate electricity equivalent to the power consumption of approximately 47,000 average households and reduce CO2 emissions by 73,000 tons per year. All electricity generated will be sold to Hokkaido Electric Power Network
