Sumitomo Corporation has decided to retire the operation at the Onahama Power Plant in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan.
The power plant is being operated by Summit Onahama S-Power Corporation in the end of March 2024 as a part of the company's initiative to achieve carbon neutrality. Summit Onahama S-Power Corporation is owned 65% by Summit Energy Corporation, a 100% subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation and 35% by Nihonkaisui Corporation.
The power plant includes 56 MW in total (Unit 1: 50MW, Unit 2: 6MW) and has been operational since October 2004.
