Atlantic Green has chosen Ameresco and Envision Energy to build the 300 MW/624 MWh Cellarhead battery energy storage project (BESS) in the West Midlands, UK.
The Cellarhead BESS marks a significant milestone for Atlantic Green's development and sustainability goals. Ameresco entered into an EPC and O&M contract, covering battery supply, balance of plant, warranty, and availability guarantees, with an EPC full wrap price of approximately GBP 196.5 million (US$249 million). Tier 1 OEM Envision Energy will supply the BESS and related services, including equipment warranties. The BESS and grid connection is expected to be completed by mid-2026, after which Atlantic Green will own and operate the system. Sarens has successfully delivered 54 BESS containers on-site using advanced lifting equipment.
