The Dominican Republic has switched on the 162.6 MW Cotoperí Solar complex, developed by Acciona Energía and local investors located in Guaymate, La Romana province. Made up of three solar plants, Cotoperí Solar will generate 286GWh of clean energy annually, preventing over 210,000 tons of CO₂ emissions – equivalent to planting more than 5.5 million trees. ACCIONA Energía holds a 51% majority stake in the project. The remaining 49% is held by Cotosolar Holding, which includes the JMMB Sustainable Energy Fund (FES) managed by JMMB Funds, Grupo Pais, and other minority investors.
Cotoperí Solar is the second photovoltaic project completed by ACCIONA Energía in the Dominican Republic, following the commissioning of Calabaza I (58MWp) in 2023. The company is also currently building the Pedro Corto solar plant (82.69MWp), in partnership with Grupo Pais, further strengthening its renewable energy portfolio in the country.
