SSE Renewables and FuturEnergy has announced the official opening of the 30 MW Lenalea Wind Farm in County Donegal, Ireland.
The Onshore wind farm located within the townlands of Cark, Killmansey, Lenalea, Kirkneedy and Rareagh in County Donegal is a Joint Venture between co-developers SSE Renewables and FuturEnergy Ireland. Delivery of Lenalea Wind Farm has represented a total capital investment of more than EUR40 million (US$43.78 million).
The project can generate electricity for more than 20,000 homes annually and offsets 20,000 tonnes of carbon emissions per year.
The fully operational wind farm comprises seven Vestas V117-4.3 MW onshore wind turbines. Under the terms of a Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA) between co-developers and Microsoft, the renewable energy produced at Lenalea Wind Farm will contribute towards Microsoft’s goal of powering its data centre operations with 100% renewable energy by 2025.
