Codling Wind Park has announced the appointment of the international engineering firm COWI for the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Detailed Design of foundations for the 1.3 GW offshore wind farm located south of Dublin, 13 km off the coast of County Wicklow, Ireland.
Under the agreement, COWI will undertake the design of wind turbine generator foundations, associated components, and offshore substation foundations. The project will use COWI’s global engineering expertise and leverage its extensive track record in offshore wind development.
The Codling wind farm will feature a maximum of 75 wind turbines, generating enough energy to power over 1 million Irish homes and offset up to 1.7 million tonnes of CO2 every year. The project secured its grid connection agreement in 2022 and was successful in Ireland’s first Offshore Renewable Energy Support Scheme (ORESS) in 2023.
Fred. Olsen Seawind and EDF Renewables have confirmed a 25% reduction in the number of turbines required to deliver the 1,300 MW Codling offshore wind farm in Ireland.
