Form Energy has signed definitive agreements for the installation of its 10 MW/1,000 MWh multi-day storage systems at two retiring coal plants owned by Xcel Energy.
The systems will be installed in the Sherburne County Generating Station in Becker, Minnesota, and the Comanche Generating Station in Pueblo, Colorado, both owned and operated by Xcel.
As Xcel retires the coal plants and advances toward sustainability, the storage technology will allow the company to add more low-cost, renewable energy sources while maintaining reliability. The projects are subject to regulatory approvals and expected to be operational by 2025.
Xcel Energy, with its headquarter in Minneapolis, Minnesota, provides electricity to millions of homes and companies in eight Western and Midwestern states.
