Microsoft Corporation and Hanwha Qcells have partnered to build a sustainable supply chain for new renewable energy capacity estimated at 2.5 GW of solar panels and related services, enough to power over 400,000 homes. One of their primary objectives is to localize solar production in order to reduce solar-related emissions.

The two companies will collaborate on the development of solar projects. Hanwha will provide solar panels as well as engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services for specific solar projects that Microsoft has contracted via power purchase agreements (PPAs).

Microsoft is committed to 100% renewable electricity by 2025.
