National Grid Renewables has announced the start of onsite construction at its 100 MW Apple River Solar Project in Polk County, Wisconsin, USA.
The Apple River solar project is expected to create over US$36 million in direct economic benefits during its first 20 years, including US$10 million in tax revenues for Polk County and local townships. It will utilize First Solar Series 6 Plus bifacial modules and supply electricity to Xcel Energy for customers in the Upper Midwest. The construction will be managed by The Boldt Company.
Anticipated to begin operation in late 2025, Apple River is expected to generate enough clean, renewable, local energy to provide the equivalent electrical usage of an estimated 26,000 homes annually.
