TotalEnergies started operations of 1 GW solar farms in USA

TotalEnergies has started commercial operations of Danish Fields (720 MWp) and Cottonwood (455 MWp), two utility-scale solar farms that have a combined capacity of 1.2 GW with integrated battery storage located in southeast Texas, USA.

Danish Fields, with 720 MWp and 1.4 million ground-mounted solar panels, also includes a 225 MWh battery storage system provided by Saft, a subsidiary of TotalEnergies. 70% of Danish Fields' capacity is secured through long-term Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (CPPAs) with Saint-Gobain, while the remaining 30% will help decarbonize TotalEnergies' industrial facilities in the U.S. Gulf Coast region.

Cottonwood has a capacity of 455 MWp with over 847,000 ground-mounted solar panels. It will also feature a 225 MWh battery storage system supplied by Saft, set to be operational by 2025. The site's electricity production is secured under long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), linked to market prices through an upside-sharing mechanism with LyondellBasell and Saint-Gobain, aimed at supporting their decarbonization initiatives.
