X-Elio is planning to build a 60 MW battery energy storage system that will be located near its 72 MW Liberty 1 solar photovoltaic project in Texas, USA.
The energy storage project will be used to store surplus energy from the solar farm and will be utilized by feeding it into the grid at times of greater need. As an ancillary service, the system will also support grid voltage and frequency.
Additionally, the battery system is uniquely designed in a way that allows for future expansion, increasing capacity from a 1.2-hr system to a 2-hr system (60 MW-120 MWh), ensuring the highest value proposition under ever-changing market conditions.
