WSP USA has been appointed as the professional engineer for the offshore high-voltage direct current (HVDC) converter platform of the 924 MW Sunrise Wind Farm located 30 miles east of Long Island’s Montauk Point in New York, US.
The project is a joint venture between Ørsted Offshore and Eversource Energy. The transmission system for the wind farm, capable of supplying clean energy to over 600,000 New York State homes, will be provided by Siemens Energy and Aker Solutions in the consortium.
WSP's role is to provide engineering services to Aker Solutions, collaborating on the HVDC platform's design process. Their expertise will ensure that the HVDC platform complies with the relevant US codes and standards, thereby enabling the successful development of the renewable energy project.
