The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has completed its environmental review of the proposed 924 MW Sunrise Wind offshore wind project in Massachusetts, New York, USA.
The project is situated around 16.4 nautical miles south of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, roughly 26.5 nautical miles east of Montauk, New York, and 14.5 nautical miles from Rhode Island. The proposed 924 MW project which is being developed by Ørsted A/S aims to provide clean, renewable energy to over 320,000 homes. The project plan, submitted by Sunrise Wind LLC, outlines the inclusion of up to 94 wind turbine generators (WTGs) and their associated export cables. The onshore components, including export cables, substation, and grid connection, are positioned in Holbrook, New York. The lease area encompasses approximately 86,823 acres.
