SolarAfrica has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Vantage Data Centers, a global operator of hyperscale data center campuses.
Vantage will be able to use renewable energy to complement the local grid to power the company's Johannesburg (JNB1) data center facility, set to open in July. The facility will have 80 MW of IT capacity, out of which 33% is estimated to be provided by SolarAfrica´s 87 MW Solar Capital De Aar solar farm.
The campus, which is part of Waterfall City's corporate and data center ecosystem, spans over 30 acres (12 hectares) and will eventually include three buildings totaling 650,000 sq. ft. (60,000 sq. m.).
