Ilmatar has submitted the application for an environmental permit to the Environmental Assessment Delegation at the County Administrative Board, CAB in Kalmar for the proposed Uppsalebo solar park project. The Uppsalebo solar park, located in the Västervik municipality, will cover approximately 380 hectares of production forest and is planned to have a capacity of up to 290 MW. Once operational, it will be one of the largest solar power parks in Sweden, contributing significantly to the region’s renewable energy production.
The Uppsalebo project forms part of Ilmatar’s wider strategy to scale up renewable energy production in southern Sweden, complementing its major developments in Tönnersjö and Olivehult. Collectively, these three initiatives will add substantial capacity to Sweden’s clean-energy portfolio, with Uppsalebo set to become the country’s third-largest planned solar park. If the Environmental Court (Miljödomstolen) receives no appeals — or once any appeals are addressed — Ilmatar plans to move into the construction phase and have the facility up and running by 2034.
