Tongwei has announced its plans to invest CNY6 billion (US$896 million) to build a new polysilicon facility in Leshan, Sichuan province, China with a production capacity of 120,000 metric tons (MT).
Tongwei has already inked a contract with the Leshan municipal government. The new facility is slated to begin construction by the end of June, with completion scheduled for the end of 2024. By the end of 2022, Tongwei had 171,000 MT of polysilicon capacity. It plans to reach 420,000 MT before ending 2024.
Recently, the company reached a deal with the government of Nantong, Jiangsu province, to invest CNY4 billion (US$589.7 million) in a new module factory with a planned annual capacity of 25 GW, scheduled to be commissioned by the end of the next year.
Tongwei also confirmed its plans to construct a 25 GW facility in Yancheng, Jiangsu province, in September 2022.
