Australian gas-to-power developer Tlou Energy has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the state-owned utility Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) for its 100 MW Lesedi coalbed methane (CBM) project.
The Lesedi project involves the development of up to 100 MW power generation facilities that will generate electricity from coal bed methane sourced from the Lesedi gas fields located in the Central District of Botswana. It will be developed in two phases of which the first phase will have 10 MW generating capacity and the second phase will bring the total generation capacity to 100 MW.
BPC will buy 10 MW from the project for a period of five years.
