The Federal Government of the United States of America has signed a memorandum of intent (MOI) for the development of up to 5 GW solar complex in Botswana and Namibia.
The US government will partner with the African Development Bank, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in developing the projects across the two African countries.
The project, dubbed as "Mega Solar", envisions the development of solar photovoltaic (PV) and concentrated solar power (CSP) technologies. The project is part of USAID’s Power Africa Initiative.
