Copel, a Brazilian power utility, has started the test operations of Cutia wind project. The facility, located in Rio do Norte, Brazil, is composed of seven wind parks.
The power generated in the test period will be traded on Brazil's short-term market. After which, if the project presents positive results, the turbines will be allowed to commence commercial operations as contracted in the sixth reserve energy auction that was held on October 31, 2014.
The 180.6 MW Cutia complex will have 86 wind turbines installed across seven wind parks, all of which with towers of 120 metres. It is currently working with 50% of its total wind turbines under test operations. The other half will come online gradually.
Opening of the complex is scheduled on January 2019
