CGM Power Group Ltd., an independent power producer (IPP), has requested proposals from engineering, procurement and construction companies for the development of a 50 MW on-grid solar plant in Chipili, Luapula province, northern Zambia.
CGM requests proposals on the following options to optimize the design and maximize the output:
- Ground-mounted solar PV system is the first option;
- Tracking system as the second option;
- Battery energy storage system (BESS) with a minimum capacity of 5 MW and a maximum capacity of 10 MW;
- Transmission lines at 132 kV from the solar PV substation to the Mwenda ZESCO substation, initially energized at 66 kV (located 29 km away from the PV construction site and proposed substation); and
- Transmission line built at 132 kV from the solar PV plant to Luongo Mine. (located 22km away from the PV plant).
