Taipower, a Taiwanese state-run power utility, has signed power purchase agreements (PPA) for 3 offshore wind projects. The facilities are located in the Taiwan Strait.
Taipower signed 20-year PPAs for 552 MW Zhang Fang offshore wind project, 48 MW Xidao offshore wind project, and 480 MW Zhong Neng offshore wind project.
Zhang Fang is owned by China Steel Corp (CSC). The first 100 MW output of the project is expected to be connected in 2021. Xidao is owned by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and will be connected by 2024. The Zhong Neng is owned by CIP and CSC. The first 300 MW power output of the project is expected to be connected in 2024. The Northland Power has secured all approvals and permits for a 300 MW project.
The tariffs for the projects are TWD 6,279/MWh (US$199.17/ MWh) over the first 10 years of the contract, and decreasing by 34% to TWD 4,142/MWh (US$131 MWh) for the 2nd.
