LS Cable to equip Yunlin offshore wind project in Taiwan

LS Cable & System will equip the 708 MW Yunlin offshore wind project in Taiwan with 170 km of 66 kV submarine cables to an offshore wind farm off the coast of Yunlin Xian by 2020. The LS Cable is the first Korean cable maker to come to Taiwanese market.

The offshore wind farm is located around 8 km from the coast of Yunlin country. The Yunlin wind farm is built by YunNeng Wind Power Company, part of the Germany's wind power company, wpd group. The project features 80 units 8MW-capacity wind turbines.

With the construction of  large-scale offshore wind farms, Taiwan is planning that by 2030, nuclear power plants will be phased out.
