SSE's 443 MW Viking wind project in the UK is coming closer to completion as half of its wind turbines have now been installed. The wind park will consist of 103 units with each turbine operating at 4.3 MW power mode when completed. The northern sector of the wind farm is now equipped with the 52nd Vestas V117 machine.
The project's turbine component installation began in February of this year, and all the tower base sections were erected by mid-June. The tip height of each machine is completed at 155 m. To complete the project, components are consistently being transported from Lerwick Port under convoy operation, with the delivery expected to finish later this month.
It is anticipated that all turbines will be fully installed in 2023, with Viking wind farm set to become fully operational by the autumn of 2024.
