The Ceylon Electricity Board has invited sealed Tenders from eligible Tenderers for the Construction of the Sampur Solar Collector 220(132)/33 kV Grid Substation and the Augmentation of the existing Kappalthurai 220(132)/33 kV Grid Substation.
The Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka has applied for financing from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) toward the cost of the Sampur Kappalthurai Transmission Infrastructure Development Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for Lot B: Construction of Sampur Solar Collector 220(132)/33 kV Grid Substation and Augmentation of Kappalthurai 220(132)/33 kV Grid Substation.
The scope of work includes the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a new 220(132)/33 kV outdoor air-insulated switchyard with a double busbar arrangement at proposed Sampur CGS, equipped with one 220(132)/33 kV, 63 MVA power transformer, 33 kV GIS, protection and control systems, and all necessary auxiliary facilities. The contract also covers the modification and augmentation of the existing 220(132) kV switch yard and associated systems at the Kappalthurai Grid Substation to enable connection with the proposed Sampur Collector substation. While the Sampur Substation is designed for 220 kV operation, temporary energization at 132 kV may be adopted only if the New Habarana–Kappalthurai 220 kV Transmission Line is not commissioned in time. If the Habarana–Kappalthurai line is completed as scheduled, both Sampur and Kappalthurai Substations will be energized at 220 kV from the outset.
Tenders must be delivered to the address on or before October 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Electronic tendering will not be permitted. Late Tenders will be rejected. For additional details about this tender, please visit our Business Opportunity page here.
