Saitec Offshore Technologies has started the planning and development permitting process for the development of a 45 MW floating offshore wind farm project in Spain.
After months of work in the development of the project, zoning, and study of potential impacts and mitigation measures, the project began the environmental impact assessment process last June 14, 2021, with the presentation of the Initial Project Document.
The GEROA (Green Energy Research for Offshore Atlantic) project consists of a floating offshore wind pilot park located 10 km offshore from the Basque coast off Bilbao.
The project, promoted by ITSAS WIND, SL (SAITEC Group), will use the SATH concrete floating platform technology, developed by SAITEC, to install 3 15MW wind turbines, estimating an entry into operation in 2025.
