RWE has started construction of a 22.8 MW onshore wind farm near Papenhagen, close to Grimmen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. The project comprises four wind turbines and is scheduled to be commissioned in mid-2026. Once operational, the wind farm is expected to generate enough green electricity to supply around 20,000 households. The project follows RWE's successful participation in an auction conducted by Germany's Federal Network Agency at the end of 2024. In addition to the four turbines, RWE is constructing another nearby turbine on behalf of a project partner. The development will also provide financial benefits to local communities. RWE has committed to voluntarily paying €0.002 per kWh of electricity generated to local communities, potentially providing an estimated annual income of up to €130,000 from the Papenhagen wind farm.
