British Solar Renewables (BSR) has submitted plans to Derbyshire Dales District Council for the Brailsford Solar Park on land off Main Road, Brailsford, Ashbourne.
The proposals are presently at an early stage of design and development, with detailed surveys and planning activities underway. Once operational, the proposed solar park is expected to produce sufficient clean renewable electricity to supply approximately 16,060 homes annually, while reducing carbon emissions by an estimated 22,396 tonnes of CO₂ each year. The development is intended to make a significant contribution to renewable energy capacity in Derbyshire, strengthen energy security, and assist in achieving local and national carbon reduction and sustainability objectives.
BSR is an established renewable energy company specialising in the development and delivery of services for the renewable energy sector. Headquartered in Somerset, the UK-based firm is involved in the development, construction, operation, and eventual decommissioning of large-scale solar and energy storage projects both across the UK and internationally. The proposed solar park is planned for land located off Main Road in Brailsford, Ashbourne. A major factor determining the suitability of a solar park location is access to a viable connection point to the National Grid, enabling the electricity generated on-site to be distributed to meet energy demand nationwide. In this case, available capacity was identified at the nearby local substation, with an appropriate grid connection point located within the proposed site area.
