British Solar Renewables is challenging the decision made by the Welsh Minister to deny planning consent for the 75 MW Rush Wall Solar Park project in south Wales. In June 2023, the solar park received a recommendation for approval in the Inspector's Report.

The company asserts that its site selection process was thorough and aligned with the planning policy. Various factors, such as electrical connections, environmental and planning designations, existing land use, agricultural land classification, visual impact, topography, and cumulative impacts, were considered. The most significant advantage of their chosen site is its ability to connect to the UK's national electricity grid.

The Rush Wall site holds a Special Site of Scientific Interest (SSSI) designation and BSR Energy produced a comprehensive environmental statement that emphasizes the range of natural protections and improvements that the development would secure. Detailed assessments conducted by their environmental consultants resulted in a scheme design that is sensitive to and compatible with the local landscape and environment.

BSR Energy submitted its planning consent application to Planning and Environment Decisions Wales in March 2022. The application includes plans for the development of ancillary electrical equipment and infrastructure, access tracks, security fencing, and CCTV. If approved, the Rush Wall Solar Park project would operate for a lifespan of 35 years.
