Ridge Clean Energy (RCE) has received planning approval for a 58.5 MW wind energy and 41.4 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) located at Ladyfield Plantation, a forestry site on the east side of Glen Aray, around 4.7km north of Inveraray, Scotland, UK.
No objections from council planners ensure that the Oxfordshire-based developer will not need to undergo a public inquiry for a permit decision on the hybrid wind and energy storage project. Through the iterative design process, the number of turbines in the Ladyfield Renewable Energy Park proposal has been reduced to 13 from the original 22. The turbine tip height is now proposed at 180 meters, down from 200 meters. The project will also include ancillary infrastructure, such as a substation, turbine transformers, upgraded access tracks, crane hardstandings, temporary construction compounds, and a second permanent meteorological mast. A separate consent application will address the connection to the SSEN Transmission Creag Dhubh substation.
