UK developer Wind2 has submitted a planning application to the Highland Council for a 22 MW wind and battery project in Caithness, Scotland.
The Swarclett Wind Farm project application involves two turbines situated on agricultural land about 1 km southeast of Mains of Durran, Castletown. The turbines will feature blade tip heights of up to 149.9 meters and include a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with a combined installed capacity of approximately 21.6 MW.
Swarclett Wind Farm will have the potential to generate around 35,000 MWh of electricity annually, sufficient to meet the needs of around 10,000 homes while offsetting approximately 15,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
