The Tennessee Valley Authority’s nationally recognized Green Invest program has secured a Facebook agreement for the 150 MW Golden Triangle II solar photovoltaic facility with 50 MW battery storage located in Lowndes County, Mississipi.
TVA is partnering with Origis Energy to develop the 150 MW solar and 50 MW battery storage facility in Lowndes County. Once operational, the project will supply power to Facebook’s two data centers in the Tennessee Valley.
Origis Energy, through a long-term power purchase agreement with TVA that was signed on Facebook’s behalf, will own and operate the project. The project is scheduled to be complete before the end of 2023
The project is currently pending environmental reviews.
The Tennessee Valley Authority is a corporate agency of the United States that provides electricity for business customers and local power companies serving nearly 10 million people in parts of seven southeastern states. TVA receives no taxpayer funding, deriving virtually all of its revenues from sales of electricity. In addition to operating and investing its revenues in its electric system, TVA provides flood control, navigation, and land management for the Tennessee River system, and assists local power companies and state and local governments with economic development and job creation.
