Octopus Energy has announced its acquisition of an 11.4 MW wind project located on a disused site of a former US air station near Prüm in west Germany. The wind farm is composed of two Nordex turbines and will generate enough energy to supply 13,500 homes, equivalent to planting 100,000 trees, or taking 110,000 petrol cars off the road. Construction has already started and is expected to be completed in 2024.
Octopus Energy has several other deals in progress to increase its generation footprint in Germany over the next few months. The company obtained the wind farm from RES; RES is constructing the wind farm and will help manage operations under a 20-year contract, working closely with local communities, the municipality, and landowners.
Octopus Energy’s new wind farm investment in Germany is part of its ongoing effort to invest in clean energy projects globally while expanding its offerings in the renewable generation market.
