NEA launches tender for construction of power transmission at various substations across Nepal

Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has launched a tender for the procurement of plants for the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of power transformers at various substations across the country. 

The tender is launched under International Competitive Bidding (ICB) Single Stage-Two Envelope Bidding procedures. Under the Single Stage-Two Envelope Bidding Procedure, Bidders are required to submit the Technical Bid and the Price Bid, as per the provision of ITB 21 of the Bidding Document. Only eligible bidders with the following key qualifications should participate in this bidding:

  1. Minimum Average Annual Construction Turnover of the best 3 years within the last 10 fiscal years: 15.38 MUSD.
  2. The required bid capacity of the bidder should be equal to or more than the 18.45 MUSD.
  3. Minimum Work Experience of similar size and nature: i) Participation as a Prime contractor, Management contractor, or Subcontractor, in at least 1 (One) EPC/Turnkey/ DB Contract within the last 10 (Ten) years, with a value of at least 12.30 MUSD that have been successfully or are substantially completed and that are similar to the proposed works. ii) For the work experience at (i), the Bidder shall have successfully executed the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of at least 4 (Four) nos. of Power Transformers of 100 MVA Three Phase, 110 kV or higher capacity at higher voltage level.

Detailed qualification criteria of the bidder, subcontractors/manufacturers, and the construction period are more elaborately described in the bidding documents. The contract duration is 18 (Eighteen) months from the date of contract effectiveness.
