San Diego Gas & Electric Company (SDG&E) has secured an order with Mitsubishi Power for its Emerald storage solutions for a 39 MW/180 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) projects located in San Diego, California, USA.
The Emerald storage solutions include the Emerald Integrated Plant Controller, which is an Energy Management System (EMS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system with real-time BESS operation and a monitoring and supervisory control platform. These control features will help make sure that fire, medical, emergency management, and police stations stay powered during times of high demand and sudden power outages.
Named Elliot, Clairemont, Paradise, and Boulevard, the microgrid BESS facilities are expected to be operational by mid-2023.
