Madison Gas and Electric (MGE), a subsidiary of MGE Energy Inc, has filed for regulatory approval from the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) to own a 10% stake in the Darien Solar Energy Centre which is equivalent to a 25 MW solar capacity and a 7.5 MW battery storage.
Darien Solar Energy Centre is a 250 MW solar photovoltaic project with a 75 MW battery storage planned for development in Rock and Walworth County of Wisconsin. We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service (WPS), which are subsidiaries of WEC Energy Group (WEC), will own 90% of the project.
WEC plans to invest up to US$450 million to develop the project. Once the project is approved for development, construction is expected to commence before the end of 2021 with target commissioning in 2023. Invenergy LLC will build the project.
