Invenergy announced that the 250-MW Fairbanks Solar Energy Center in Sullivan County, Indiana, USA, has commenced commercial operations.
Invenergy spearheaded the development and construction of the Fairbanks Solar facility, which is now owned by Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO). The solar plant generates enough electricity to supply over 50,000 homes and businesses across the U.S. and created nearly 275 local jobs during its construction phase. Invenergy Services is responsible for the facility’s operations and maintenance, with a dedicated team of four full-time employees on site. Over its operational lifetime, the project is expected to contribute more than US$125 million in economic benefits to the Sullivan County community.
Fairbanks Solar is Invenergy’s second solar facility in Indiana.
