L´Oréal Brazil and ENGIE have announced their partnership for the use of electricity from renewable sources with the power purchase agreement (PPA) deal for the 212.6 MW Trairi wind complex in the municipality of Trairi, Ceará, Brazil.

The PPA allows L'Oreal to use clean energy to power its manufacturing plants, Distribution Centers, Research Center and headquarters of L´Oréal Brazil, avoiding the emission of 7,000 tons of COin the atmosphere, the equivalent of planting more than 43,000 trees.

The Trairi Wind Complex is located in Trairi (CE), a municipality with 51,000 inhabitants, and it consists of eight wind farms: Fleixeiras I (30.0 MW), Guajirú (30.0 MW), Mundaú (30.0 MW), Trairi (25.4 MW), Cacimbas (18.9 MW), Estrela (29.7 MW), Ouro Verde (29.7 MW), and Santa Mônica (18.9 MW). There are 86 wind turbines for a total 212.6 MW in installed capacity and 102.3 MW physical guarantee for commercialization.

In 2018, remote operation of the Trairi Wind Complex began at the Generation Operations Center, located in ENGIE’s registered offices in Florianópolis (SC).
