Kazakhstan has selected 4 projects in an auction to award 250 MW of wind power capacity.
The tender is part of an autumn auction round taking place from October 3 to October 18 as the country plans to auction a total of 1 GW of renewable energy capacity this year. The targeted capacity in the initiative is 290 MW of solar, 620 MW of wind, 75 MW of hydropower and 15 MW of biopower.
8 companies took part in the 250-MW wind tender, submitting 8 bids for 560.05 MW of projects, with individual proposals ranging from 10.05 MW to 100 MW in size. The auctions organiser is the JSC Kazakhstan Electricity and Power Market Operator (KOREM). Price bids ranged from KZT 17.39 (USD 0.047/EUR 0.041) to KZT 22.55 per kWh, compared to a starting price of KZT 22.67 per kWh.
