Eni and GE Renewable Energy have announced that GE will supply 13 of its 3.8-130 onshore wind turbines, with a hub height of 85m, 3.8MW of power and a 130m rotor, for the Badamsha project in Kazakhstan. With 48 MW capacity, the plant will increase the country’s wind capacity by 25%.
The Badamsha plant, located in the north-west region in the Aktobe oblast, represents Eni’s first large-scale investment in wind power and GE’s first wind onshore plant in Kazakhstan. It is expected to commence operations by the end of 2019.
The plant represents the first concrete achievement of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that Eni and GE signed with the Ministry of Energy last year, supporting the country's ambitious goal to procure 50% of its energy from renewable sources by 2050.
