Jemena and its partner have started to construct a 60-kilometer, eight-inch steel-coated buried gas pipeline and compressor station for the Atlas gas pipeline project located in the south-west of Wandoan, Queensland. The construction and commissioning of the Atlas project are expected to be completed before the end of 2019.
The project is being developed to connect gas from Senex Energy’s Atlas gas fields to the east-coast gas market via the Wallumbilla gas hub.
Senex and Jemena will invest almost AUD400 million (US$279.45 million) to bring natural gas from Project Atlas and the nearby Roma North development to market. In total, Jemena will invest around AUD140 million (US$97.81 million) to deliver the Atlas project, which is expected to create around 150 to 200 jobs in Queensland.
