TasNetworks has completed the work on the substation and transmission line that connects the 144 MW Cattle Hill Wind Farm to central Tasmania’s grid.
Six of the 48 Goldwind turbines that will power the wind farm have been installed so far. Located on the shore of Lake Echo, the wind farm is scheduled to come online by the end of this 2019. It will feed power to the grid through a 130 meter (427-ft) transmission line that will serve as a link to the existing transmission network.
The wind park will generate electricity enough for about 63,500 Tasmanian homes, once operational. Renewable energy certificates from the plant will be purchased by state government-owned electricity retailer Aurora Energy under a long-term contract.
