Invenergy has started the commercial operation of its 200 MW Calhoun Solar Energy Center located at Calhoun County in Michigan, USA.
The completion of the construction of the plant was delayed and initially planned by the end of 2022. Invenergy secured the financing of the solar farm in September 2021. Invenergy also signed a number of power purchase agreements with local electricity utilities to sell power produced at the Calhoun project.
Consumers Energy will purchase 140 MW capacity from the project while the Michigan Public Power Agency will buy 50 MW and the Lansing Board of Water and Light will purchase 10 MW, thereby integrating the electricity produced by the solar project into the Michigan grid.
