Ameresco, Inc., in collaboration with United Power, has announced the signing of a contract for a 78.3 MW/313.34 MWh battery storage system in the counties of Adams, Broomfield, and Weld, in Colorado, USA. The ground-breaking project will run for 20 years under an agreement between the two companies.

Ameresco plans to distribute the battery arrays strategically across United Power’s service territory to enable the cooperative to balance energy loads by efficiently combining alternative and renewable energy resources. Ameresco will put up four 11.75 MW and four 7.84 MW battery arrays located in eight different substation sites. The batteries will store and dispatch power effectively when energy consumption is at its highest levels.

United Power plans to optimize its energy resources by leveraging Ameresco's technology to promote grid resilience, ensuring a continuous electricity supply to consumers. The project is expected to begin operations in 2024.
