IndiGrid has successfully installed and commissioned a pilot photovoltaic (PV) project featuring a solar panel bank and battery energy storage system (BESS) at its Dhule substation in Maharashtra, India.
This PV system will provide much-needed support for the substation's auxiliary consumption requirements, and its integration with BESS will assist IndiGrid in reducing its carbon footprint while continuing to operate efficiently. The project is part of IndiGrid's growing interest in energy transition and will serve as a blueprint for similar sustainable projects at substations in other locations.
IndiGrid sees the Dhule substation as a testing ground for augmenting its capabilities to participate in solar and BESS energy transition opportunities. The company anticipates replicating similar systems across its other substations in the near future, with the aim of reducing its overall emissions and expanding its portfolio in the renewable energy space. By embracing renewable energy solutions and investing in clean energy technology, IndiGrid is not only contributing to environmental sustainability but also leveraging new market opportunities in the energy sector.
