NTPC Renewable Energy, fully owned by NTPC Green Energy, has entered into an agreement with Greenko ZeroC to provide 1.3 GW of uninterrupted renewable energy to Greenko's upcoming green ammonia plant in Kakinada, located in Andhra Pradesh, India. Greenko ZeroC is a division of the Greenko Group that produces green molecules. The Kakinada project will include multiple stages of production and export of green ammonia, totaling up to one million metric tons per annum by 2027.

The agreement between NTPC Renewable Energy and Greenko ZeroC is one of the largest single contracts for the supply of round-the-clock renewable power to an industrial customer anywhere in the world. The deal represents a significant milestone in the development of renewable energy infrastructure in India, as well as in the efforts to promote green ammonia production and export.

The Greenko ZeroC project in Kakinada is expected to help reduce India's carbon footprint, while also contributing to the government's ambitious target of achieving 175 GW of renewable energy by 2022. The collaboration between NTPC Renewable Energy and Greenko ZeroC will aid in advancing India's renewable energy sector by promoting the use of clean energy for industrial purposes, which will assist in reducing the country's dependence on non-renewable energy sources.
