Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) has received Letter of Award from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) to construct a 200 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Maharashtra, India. The financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed. The project will be completed within approximately 18 months and is estimated to cost around INR10 billion (US$121.12 million).
The photovoltaic park will be built by SJVN Green Energy Ltd at an undisclosed location in Maharashtra. It is anticipated to produce 455 million units in the first year and approximately 10481 million units of energy overall over a 25-year timeframe. Once operational the PV facility will offset 5,13,560 tonnes of carbon emission.
The Indian government has set a target of achieving 100 GW of solar capacity by 2022, which was later extended to 450 GW by 2030. SJVN has been actively contributing to India's renewable energy goal and has implemented multiple projects such as wind, solar, and hydroelectric plants.
